Core Values

It is important to clarify the direction of the church.  It is always important to have clear core values, and to be sure we can aligned with them. It is also very important to keep them simple and understandable...

Here are the core values of Magnolia’s congregation as of early 2008:

 Most people value simple and steady worship in the morning service, and maintenance of the church so it keeps on going. People value getting attention for the church, which is to say they value church "marketing" or "advertising" to the community. People value active witnessing in/for the wider community. People value spiritual growth, spirituality, discipleship, or Christian Education. While not a separate value, people want an emphasis on music, with variety and creativity. They want the aesthetics in worship emphasized. Here is how we may align ourselves with these core values:

 Protect and defend the AM worship service for the benefit of target groups in the community.

Guest Friendly features. Preaching that works. Music that inspires. Active celebration, not a funeral for God. Focus on getting attention for the Church

 Exterior appearances & community visibility. Outreach events & promotion on a regular schedule. Website improvement & its effective promotion. Evangelism/ canvassing community regularly. Provide and increase opportunities for Spiritual Growth and Discipleship

 Sunday School program improvement. PM Bible Study improvement and creative variety. Prayer practice & commitment. Amazingly, these are the things our community says they value in a church/ or experience of a church’s work:

 Divorce Recovery Spiritual Retreats Sports/Camping Cultural Programs Intellectual Worship Focus on Personal Spiritual Development There is quite a bit of overlap between what Magnolia values and what the community values in a church experience!
